Did you know that 1 in 6 American children faces a developmental disability? In Montana, children are
8% less likely than the national average to receive early screenings for these disabilities and delays.
My name is Laura Olsonoski, and I’m reaching out on behalf of the Moving Mountains Foundation, a
nonprofit organization established in 2019.
The Moving Mountains Foundation is committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with
disabilities in Western Montana. We achieve this by:
• Providing medical screenings to organizations serving children
• Improving access to essential services, including occupational, physical, speech, and feeding
therapies
• Offering affordable or free educational programs for caregivers and professionals working with
vulnerable populations
• Assisting individuals in obtaining equipment and supplies to promote independence in daily
activities
• Raising community awareness of neurodiversity through all-ability and sensory-friendly events
Currently, many children in Western Montana are not reaching their full potential due to limited
resources and services. Disability Rights Montana receives daily inquiries from families seeking
assistance, highlighting a critical need. According to the National Survey of Children with Special Health
Care Needs, 21% of children with special health care needs have unmet therapy needs, while 12% lack
access to necessary mobility aids. This gap profoundly impacts quality of life and imposes significant
long-term financial burdens on families and the state.
Thanks to our dedicated team, we’ve made strides in supporting individuals with disabilities and unmet
learning needs across Western Montana, but our mission continues.
I invite you to support the Moving Mountains Foundation through our 2nd Annual Holiday Hullabaloo
event, either as a sponsor or through an in-kind donation. This festive gathering will take place on
November 23rd at the Missoula Public Library's 4th floor and will feature activities like cookie
decorating, sensory room, pictures with Santa, music, games, and more. Together, we can make a
difference!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Warm regards,
Laura Olsonoski, OTD, OTR/L, ATP
